Chris Borchardt is in his first year at Brandon Valley High School and his fourth year of teaching overall. Chris is originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He graduated from Augustana College with a degree in Music Education in 2012. As an educator and clinician, Chris has worked with area schools such as, Sioux Falls Washington, Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Sioux Falls Christian, Patrick Henry Middle School, Memorial Middle School, and the Tea Area School District. Chris played a big part in the founding of the Sioux Falls Christian Marching Band, which has won numerous awards since its inception. Chris was also the adjunct saxophone professor at the University of Sioux Falls from January of 2013 to August of 2014.
As a performer, Chris has performed extensively throughout the Sioux Falls area in past years for both private parties and public events. He has performed at the Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society JAZZFEST, the Sioux Empire Fair, the Life light Music Festival, and Flandreau River Days. Throughout his years of playing, Chris has had the opportunity to solo alongside such jazz artists as: Chris Vadala, Allen Vizutti, Mark Colby, Mike Tomaro, and Matt Wallace.
Chris is the state Band Chair on the South Dakota Music Educators Association Board of Directors. He is also a member of the South Dakota Band Masters and was inducted into the Roosevelt High School Fine Arts Hall of Fame in the spring of 2013. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Music Education degree from Northern State University and will graduate in May of 2016.
